Iblard Jikan

Iblard Jikan

Here’s the perfect thing to combat my middle of the week malaise.

Today isn’t the first time I sat through Iblard Jikan (when I should be studying for the GRE but don’t tell my loved ones that), but every once in a while, it’s just what I need.

It’s beautiful to see as in seeing a painting (literally) because there isn’t any story here to watch (my see/watch distinction might seem pedantic on second thought). Iblard Jikan is amazingly simple, however, so I’ll let Wikipedia explain what it is:

The film is 30 minutes long and consists primarily of Naohisa Inoue’s fantasy paintings of the Iblard world. Studio Ghibli digitally animated portions of the paintings and integrated original elements into the scenery. There are 8 separate segments, each featuring a different painting or landscape and instrumental musical piece.

That’s really it. I suppose it isn’t for everybody, but I hope most people can just sit back and appreciate pretty pictures for merely half an hour.

I’m sure someone out there has written much more extensively on Iblard Jikan.

But I think it would be sort of interesting to see what screencaps different blogs take of Iblard.

What do different people take out of something like this?
