This thing oozes shoujo. It has everything.
That watercolor style. (But at least it’s pretty.)
SD sequences. (I guess it’s cute.)
Full of sparkly close ups. (Well, it is a shoujo.)
You know what? The entire thing gives off a very Kare Kano vibe, but just without any soul and any wit. Sawako is so devoid of even an ounce of cynicism, so wholesome and pure herself. She just wants to be our friends but gosh people keep misunderstanding her! Add her to the pile of nipponese Mary Sues. She’s an empty canvas for all the readers out there to project themselves onto. Bleh. I don’t hate it, but Kimi ni Todoke just plays it way too safe.
