Most of the heavy-lifting was done by Fin for this video.
They thought… wrong.
New OP but same ol’ mediocrity. After last week’s strong showing, this episode bored me to tears.
• This is the beach episode…
…a.k.a. the male gaze episode.
• All I learned this week was that Yuina’s a megabitch. Not only is she the mastermind behind stripping Minko down in public and throwing the unwilling girl into the sea, she decides to reject Yosuke publically, in front of her friends and his staff. A little backstory: Yosuke is an old childhood friend of Yuina. He works at the big rival inn. When they were kids, I guess the two of them made a promise that they’d marry each other. Well, now that they’re somewhat grown up, Yosuke would like Yuina to manage his inn (sounds dirty).
Sure, she didn’t have an answer for his proposal the night before, but was it really necessary to humiliate the guy? Young people have cell phones — at least call him up and tell him privately or something, but Yuina’s probably one of those spoiled types, isn’t she? She’s popular and the world is her oyster so she’ll just do what she damn well pleases.
• The whole big inns treat their employees like crap angle is kinda lame.
You can promote rustic places like Kissuiso without all the character assassination.
• It’s so hot when girls do it to girls!
• What’s with the yuri vibes between Yuina and Ohana this week?
• At least the OP does contain a handful of interesting scenes despite the terrible song playing in the background.
Sui at a graveyard? Do I sense pathos? Unfortunately, the angle in the screenshot above is doing strange things to Sui’s back.

Huh, that scene in the opening probably means they’re going to delve deeper into the Matsumae family’s past and their dead ancestors – if the opening is to be believed. But then again, Hanairo has a bad rap for being misleading in its “next episode” previews.
Well, if Sui’s gonna be sad about anything, the most likely candidate would be her rarely heard of husband. Unfortunately, if they do touch on this, it’ll probably be toward the latter end of the season while we get treated to pointless filler episodes. Really, the Shijima family is the most interesting thing about this anime — not Ohana’s boring friends.
It was a break episode, not likely going to be remembered except for the only legitimate reason Minko ever had to be really pissed, and the unnecessary yuri vibes.
That brings up the following question: why even have break episodes? If we acknowledge that it’s going to suck and no one’s going to remember it, well, here’s a bright idea: don’t even bother making that episode!
Because every anime, regardless of quality, has to have at least one beach episode. It’s an unwritten law.
And regardless of the conventions of the medium, I will always consider it a flaw.
