Sanda Ep. 12: An unexpectedly grounded conclusion

But before we get to the emotional climax of the series, we need one more battle against Oshibu. This is… what? Round three? Round four? The point is, I don’t want to keep tussling with this creep. If Sanda ever gets a sequel, I don’t want Oshibu to pull a Dr. Robotnik or Sigma and become a recurring boss for the series. I want a story that makes actual progress. I want to move beyond the confines of the school. I want to see what the rest of this dystopian world looks like. I want to understand how this world functions. But is this something that the mangaka even wants to do? Or are they attached to the school setting like the average anime series? Unfortunately, this bout against Oshibu isn’t the final battle. We’re not actually trying to free this school from Oshibu’s clutches. Rather, if Sanda/Santa somehow manages to win, Oshibu will agree to reinstate Ono as a student. So the plan is for all of them to continue coexisting together on this campus? Honesty, I don’t get it.

May I Ask for One Final Thing? Ep. 13: One woman’s journey from awesome to ordinary

Scarlet looks pretty gleeful as she readies a haymaker for her dear prince. I suppose she’s been waiting for a good opportunity to punish him. At the same time, however, aren’t her words here tantamount to a confession? What then follows sounds like a series of irrational accusations, but in reality, Scarlet is relishing the opportunity to… well, “flirt” with her prince. For instance, she can’t help but wonder if Julius allowed himself to be charmed. Like a stereotypical jealous lover, Scarlet then asks if Julius prefers women like Terenezza. But it’s “flirting” nonetheless, because some people like that sort of thing. They love it when their partner gets jealous over them. The logic here is that it shows they care. Not my jam, personally. If you deliberately try to make me jealous, I’ll just walk away. Nevertheless, it seems like Scarlet can only be honest about her feelings on the battlefield.

My Awkward Senpai Ep. 12: The awkward confession and the awkward first date

Nope, no backtracking now. Stay on course! I’m not a big fan of dating within the office, especially when there’s a power imbalance. But if you’re going to commit, then commit. This is, however, just the start of the episode, so of course, Kamegawa gets called away before he can properly explain his intentions. Afterwards, Hotta has to spell things out to Kannawa. She should’ve just done this from the start. Meanwhile, Kankaiji tries to advise Kamegawa to finish the damn job. And Kankaiji’s right: Kannawa is the sort of person who won’t believe that someone likes her. After all, she has completely abandoned the idea of making friends at work, so do you really think she would have enough of an ego to believe that Kamegawa likes her on her own? No way. Kamegawa needs to stop dancing around his feelings like some besotted schoolchild, waiting and hoping that their crush — their senpai — notices them. He needs to smash through Kannawa’s defenses like… I dunno, Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 or the Kool-Aid Man.

Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- Season 2 Ep. 12: I had no expectations going in, but I’m still disappointed

I ended up writing too many words, so screw it, let’s give this final episode its own post. Anyway, what do you mean the battle to save Odanna is just beginning? Good lord. But let’s start from the top. Remember how Aoi was being chased by a bunch of ayakashi wolves hellbent on eating her? Well, a goddamn Christmas tree shows up outta nowhere to save her. Yes, a Christmas tree. Then a bunch of snow fairies drag Aoi and Ginji to safety. When our heroine wakes up, she somehow finds a fully-equipped kitchen ready for her. Why exactly do miniature snow fairies need a human-sized kitchen? Just in case someone needs to make doria and mochi ice cream, of course! Sigh…

The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess Ep. 11: Suddenly, vampires aren’t so fun anymore

I woke up today hoping that this week’s episode would be the season finale. Alas, we still have one more to go. Nothing better for Christmas Eve than the season finale of a middling anime. Bah, let’s get this over with. So when we last left off, Iana wanted the fix the vampire’s seal before it broke. But where’s the fun in that? You can’t mention a vampire without showing us one, so of course, Iana and her team of pretty boys — Sol and Yomi — are too late. The seal has already broken, and the entire elf village has been subjugated. Well, these look and act more like zombies than vampires.
