Sanda Ep. 11: Every kid needs a hug

Once again, Fuyumura comes to Sanda/Santa’s rescue, but this only breaks the initial deadlock between him and Namatame. For round two, Sanda/Santa decides to confront Namatame as his kid self. Why the change in tactic? Well, his logic is simple: if Santa can’t fight back against a child, then surely a kid can. We get this discussion between the main characters about how kids can be violent to each other, but when adults do it, it’s called abuse. I dunno, man. I don’t think you can say that when every other anime features schoolyard bullying in some form or fashion. Sounds to me like kids can be pretty abusive too.

May I Ask for One Final Thing? Ep. 12: Top ten anime betrayals

For better or worse, the early part of this episode is very video game-like. The party descends into the deep, dark dungeon full of traps. Ooh, what scary encounters might they face! There’s even a falling boulder that Scarlet has to fist out of the way. As you might have expected, our heroine makes short work of everyone and everything in her path. Eventually, the party makes its way to a large room full of Palmian adherents, so it’s time for a multi-stage boss fight.

My Awkward Senpai Ep. 11: How to normally celebrate a friend’s birthday

Kannawa worries that maybe she’s not being a good enough friend to Kamegawa. She also adds that her kouhai — the employee she’s supposed to mentor — also happens to be her first friend. She makes it sound like he’s her only friend. Uh, is Kankaiji not her friend? And Hotta as well? They can barely hold in their laughter as they listen to her, but if it were me, I’d be thinking, What am I? Chopped liver? What have we been doing this whole time? Why did I invite you to a spa resort if we weren’t friends? But hey, those two are nicer than I am. I know I’m petty.

The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess Ep. 10: Iana’s twilight

Iana hasn’t been having a good time lately, because as you’ll recall, the duchess still died. Basically, our heroine/villainess is facing the same future no matter how hard she tries to change the story. Personally, I think the sample size here is too small to draw any definitive conclusion. But hey, my life isn’t on the line, so maybe that allows me to be a bit more rational. I just think it’s funny that Iana’s losing her marbles over the duchess of all people. “Why couldn’t the future change?! Why are we trapped in this nightmare where a serial kidnapper and probably rapist had to lose her life?!”

The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess Ep. 13: Our princess gets to flex her (magic) muscles

I’m tired of typing out Athanasia all the time, so I guess I’ll go with Athy from now on. I should’ve done this earlier. I don’t know why I waited so long. There can’t be very many episodes left in the season. With that out of the way, we can get down to business. Immediately, Athy is shocked to find Ijikiel in her personal library. Apparently, he snuck in. Kinda not cool, man. Granted, from his perspective, she’s done the same to him. But their first encounter was entirely Lucas’s fault. I dunno, I’m not personally keen on people showing up without letting me know first. My home should feel safe, y’know? I shouldn’t turn the corner and find someone who isn’t supposed to be there. Plus, what was even his plan? Did he know the princess was headed here? Or did he just decide, “Hm, yes, if I stand around here aimlessly, I’m bound to bump into her!”
