May I Ask for One Final Thing? Ep. 7: The saint has a crush?!

But before we get to Diana’s love life, we need to settle things with Palmia. When we last left off, the bad guys had disrupted a ceremony meant to kick off Saint Diana’s pilgrimage. Scarlet is quick to jump into action, so she chucks a single spear and demolishes an entire building belonging to the Palmiam faith. We then see a bunch of Palmian adherents gnash their teeth and curse the “blasphemer” who would dare attack them. On the one hand, we know these are the bad guys; we know they deserve it. But on the other hand, she is kinda overstepping her bounds. I suppose it helps to have the crown prince in your pocket, but still, Scarlet is playing judge, jury, and executioner. For now, the people are on her side. I just wonder if the story will ever consider having the pendulum swing the other way, i.e. the people slowly becoming scared of Scarlet for perhaps going too far one day. For example, Batman might be a hero, but he’s still a vigilante who some people reasonably oppose for his extrajudicial actions.

My Awkward Senpai Ep. 6: Kannawa’s most awkward night so far

Ah yes, it’s time for the obligatory festival episode, so you know what that means: girls wearing yukata (only girls allowed, though!), everyone enjoying grub from all the food stalls, and last but not least, we can’t forget about the fireworks. We even get a scene where Kannawa burns herself eating takoyaki! How does an adult woman get this far in life without knowing how to eat hot food?! Well, not to be a Debbie Downer, but I can’t help but feel as though I’m watching a high school romance series. But that’s not entirely fair now, is it? There’s no reason why two adults can’t go to a festival together. And it’s not even just two adults, because this episode introduces a whole new character. Nevertheless, every time I watch this show, I ask myself, “What makes this different from a high school romance series?” And truthfully, I can’t really give you a good answer. Kannawa and Kamegawa might be working adults, but they often act like children.

The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess Ep. 5: Fighting hard to keep that harem

Unfortunately, it looks like Yomi won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, which I find rather exasperating. ‘Cause I mean, what have we learned? Nothing. Nothing whatsoever. When we last left off, an injured Sol wasn’t just close to losing his duel to Yomi. There was a real chance the former could die to the latter. Yeah, Yomi is not a good guy. Yomi is crazy enough about Iana to murder for her. The worst part is that he’ll never change his mind about Konoha. He simply will never believe Iana that she and Konoha are not enemies. And yet we fight to keep him around for what? Because he’s hot? Tch.

The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess Ep. 8: Finally meeting Jennette… sorta

Athanasia can already levitate small objects like her own teacup. But like most kids, she lacks patience and already has big dreams. I dunno, considering where she started at the beginning of the series, this is pretty crazy progress. Then again, magic isn’t real, so I’m just talking out of my ass.

SPY x FAMILY Ep. 42: Yor’s new mommy friend

When we begin this week’s episode, Yor again wonders if she’ll ever fit in with normal people. Well, I’m no expert, but I feel like her worries are so overblown. The only people who think she’s weird are the ones who are close to her, i.e. her family and her coworkers. Her family, which includes Loid, Anya, and Yuri, all love her. As for her coworkers, they started off as bitchy mean girls, but even they’ve been warming up to her (and thus the audience) these days. So from an objective standpoint, it doesn’t seem like Yor really has anything to worry about. She’s just in the throes of her insecurities again. Don’t get me wrong, ’cause Yor definitely is weird. I just don’t think that’s how most people perceive her. Like those gossipy housewives she bumped into as she was leaving her home. They probably don’t think Yor’s weird at all.
