Dandadan Ep. 19 and stuff: What can you do when you adopt a bad egg

Evil Eye could’ve hurt Momo really badly in this week’s episode, so Manjiro’s right: adults are usually more pragmatic. They should be more pragmatic. If they didn’t constantly rain on everyone’s parade, kids would accidentally (and sometimes not so accidentally) kill themselves left and right with their antics. But Seiko has too much heart (as does everyone else in this show), so she doesn’t want to give up on Jiji even though her own granddaughter is in danger. Like shit, if I were in her shoes, I don’t think I’d vouch this hard for some random kid over my own (grand)child. And it’s not like it’s even Jiji who’s in danger; it’s just his feelings. We’re talking about Evil Eye. If Evil Eye gets send to a better place, Jiji will be sad but I think he’d ultimately get over it. Also, remember when the gang thought they had taken Turbo Granny down for good? Seiko talked about how the evil spirit must have been consoling the souls of murdered young girls, but they still had to exorcise Turbo Granny because we can’t let the yokai run wild and harm the living. But now she likes Jiji’s spirit enough to risk everyone’s lives? Does granny like Jiji that much?

Let’s talk summer anime

This post is a long time coming. It annoys me when I tune into a Twitch channel just to find the streamer yapping for hours about their personal lives, so I won’t bore you with details of my own struggles. I’ll just say that my situation is still not great, but it’s better now than it was back in March. No new cats yet. Just been reading a lot of books and playing a lot of games. And yes, watching a lot of mediocre anime. With that out of the way, let’s talk about some recent anime.

Zenshu Ep. 7 & 8: Our heroine should get those heart palpitations checked out

I was originally going to do one big post to recap my thoughts on the shows in the past week. I took a mental break to grieve my cat, but I still watched everything that came out. But as I was writing up my thoughts on Zenshu’s two recent episodes, it just got longer and longer and longer. So I decided it might as well be its own post. I can complain about the stupid isekai shows and romantic comedies at a later date.

Honey Lemon Soda Ep. 6: A bolder Uka still needs Kai a little too much

When we last left off, a school festival coming up, and Uka had volunteered to lead the charge. She’s organizing a maid cafe, by the way. When is it not a maid cafe? But hey, you get to see Uka in a maid uniform if that’s your thing. Don’t worry, it’s a pretty tame uniform for a pretty tame anime. Either way, this part of the episode feels a bit disjointed. It’s like a dream as we drift from scene to scene. At first, nobody wants to help Uka, so she’s careening around on her bike all by her lonesome. But eventually, the other girls get over themselves and lend a hand. Ganbatte this, ganbatte that, and our heroine is happy. For now.
