More Hate for the Endless Eight Arc

Amazing. Too bad he’s just a former director; maybe this season would have been somewhat watchable otherwise.

From the Sankaku Complex article on the same video:

Important quotes, immediately seized upon by 2ch:

  • “I knew from a year ago.”
  • “When I was with Kyoto Animation, this idea was already floating around, I was against to it. I thought 2 episodes was the limit.”

  • “I feel responsible for this. I’ll say it, I’m prepared to. As a representative of the SOS-Dan production committee, I want to apologise here – this was inexcusable.”

Haven’t seen Haruhi S2, and from what I’m hearing round the grapevine, never will. This little doozy is just the final nail in the coffin.

As an aside, I’ve just found your blog, and to know that there are fellow fans who haven’t been brainwashed by the cult of moe…it warms my heart, like a vampire burning in the sun.

I’ll…uh… take that as a compliment. I actually saw the first two episodes of S2 with cautious optimism. All the cowering Mikuru just grated on my nerves though so I was turned off even before the Endless Eight fiasco. I just think the whole thing is amusing; I’ll never understand being so emotionally invested in a TV show that I’d waste money by breaking figurines and tearing up novels. Then again, I’d never own a figurine to begin with…

Otaku are a strange and unpredictable beast. And yet they provide oh so brilliant comedy for the rest of us.

In regards to Mikuru though, I always thought she was meant to be a parody of moe moe archetypes, which was why all her moe tendencies were taken up to their logical extremes.

Anyway, I’ve read quite a bit of this blog and I really enjoy it. And so, I’d like to propose a link exchange!

I used to think that back when I first saw S1 but the gimmick ceased to be funny a long time ago so I just dunno. I think she’s more moe vehicle than moe parody, especially when I consider K-ON!

          Sure.

According to Sankaku Complex, KyoAni just responded to Yamakan with a terse “This person has absolutely nothing to do with our company.” That’s kinda weak.
