Iana hasn’t been having a good time lately, because as you’ll recall, the duchess still died. Basically, our heroine/villainess is facing the same future no matter how hard she tries to change the story. Personally, I think the sample size here is too small to draw any definitive conclusion. But hey, my life isn’t on the line, so maybe that allows me to be a bit more rational. I just think it’s funny that Iana’s losing her marbles over the duchess of all people. “Why couldn’t the future change?! Why are we trapped in this nightmare where a serial kidnapper and probably rapist had to lose her life?!”
So for the final arc of the first season, it looks like we’ll be getting two new characters: a hot elf guy and a young human boy. Let’s also not forget the oh-so-mysterious puppetmaster behind everything. Sigh, it’s just more dudes again. This shouldn’t surprise me. After all, this story is born from the fevered mind of a horny, young teenager. Nevertheless, real Konoha is a grown woman now. She even admits that she’s the oldest soul here. So… doesn’t she miss the friendship of women her own age? Or are you going to tell me that even right before she died and got isekai, she was still a loner with literally no friends?
But enough about that. So what’s the problem this time around? Well, the elf suspiciously remembers nothing, but in real Konoha’s actual story, he’s supposed to seek ideal Konoha’s help in order to deal with… uh, a vampire threat? Well, you don’t often see elves and vampires together in the same story, but again, this was written by a kid. Iana won’t explain it now, but she’ll probably tell us next week all about how had her own vampire phase back in the day. In any case, hot elf guy is supposed to die protecting ideal Konoha. I suspect that probably won’t happen this time around.
After all, Iana once again wants to take matters into her own powerless hands. She’s going to try and fix the seal that, if broken, will eventually lead to the aforementioned vampire outbreak that ultimately dooms the elf bishie. Since Konoha hasn’t fully awaken to her saintly powers, she wouldn’t even be able to stop the vampires in the first place. But Iana is no different. Like I’ve said, she’s powerless. She can’t protect herself, nor does she even know how to fix the seal. Both Sol and Yomi insist on accompanying Iana on whatever harebrained plan she’s come up with, so at least she has protection. But it’s not like they know how to fix vampire seals either.
Moreover, the elf bishie literally told them that humans are not allowed inside the elf village. Hell, they’re not even allowed to know where it is. But Iana somehow does (because she’s the author). Not only that, she wants to hit up their graveyard without explaining a single thing to her two companions. Yomi can’t question Iana, because he’s a total loser who worships the ground she walks on. Meanwhile, Sol only puts up a token resistance probably because he’s already in love with her or whatever. He even acts like he’s mad jealous after watching Iana keep Yomi in line. Meanwhile, our heroine/villainess is being her annoyingly dense self as always, both now and earlier in the episode.
Welp, as luck would have it, the seal has already broken. The oh-so-mysterious puppetmaster is probably just the vampire. He was expecting Konoha but he got Iana instead. Am I excited for this arc? Eh, I’ve already mentally prepared myself to move on from this anime. I hope the winter season has something more worthwhile to blog on Wednesdays.
Stray thoughts & observations:
- Hm, yeah, probably shouldn’t do this with a horse and carriage.
- Iana is back to being annoyingly dense again.
- Disagree here. Dude looks pale as hell. But I know how a lot of people think light skin == pretty.
- I love how so many folks will just casually admit to this like it isn’t creepy as hell. Imagine the inverse: “I only got into big bro + loli stuff after I grew up.” Fucking barf. I remember when vtubers were all the rage during the pandemic, and being bored, I checked out a few translated clips. A lot of the Japanese talents would yap about this stuff like it’s no big deal, and the audience lapped it up.
- Maybe it’s because I’ve never been into the fantasy genre, but elves have never appealed to me. For the most part, they’re just humans with pointy ears and a penchant for being haughty. At their worst, their depictions in certain media signify a dogwhistle.
- Why would classic elves have torii gates? Ah, the world-building of a teenage mind.
