Yuru wants to see and talk to Asa, so Jin invites him to the home of the Kagemori clan instead, claiming that no harm will come to Yuru. There’s no reason why Asa couldn’t meet them at a neutral location, but Yuru ultimately relents. Ehhh, I don’t know about that, buddy. Fine, Jin has no intent to kill. But capture? That’s exactly what he tried to do just moments ago.
Asa is like a giddy child as soon as she learns that her brother is coming. When Yuru finally arrive, she’s like a little sister who can’t wait to see her big bro. She begs for a hug and all that. That’s kinda weird, isn’t it? I’m sure some people are charmed by the gap moe, but I’m not. They’re both relatively strangers, so why does she revere her brother so much already, calling him “onii-sama” and everything? Is she and Gabby both clueless? Haha, my side just murdered half of the people you grew up with! Let’s hug!
Yuru still doesn’t quite believe that Asa is his sister. I mean, his Daemons have told him that they share the same blood, but I guess that’s not enough. Moreover, he insists that his sister should be small and cute. Bro, you’re twins. Not identical twins, but still twins.
Also, I’m sure you have more important things to talk about than the level of salt in food these days. Besides, not saying it’s bad or even bland, but if he thinks modern Japanese cuisine is overseasoned, hoo boy, I can’t wait until he tries what other cultures have to offer.
Eventually, they get around to more important subjects. To make a long story short, the twins’ parents are missing. Just vanished into thin air while on their way to see the mother’s side of the family in Okinawa. Then we cut to… literally blobs in a dark room having one of those mysterious, conspiratorial anime conversations. That’s certainly a choice. What, did SEELE become amoebas or something? Anyway, there’s a third faction, and they’re clearly not friendly. You can tell they’re evil just from the Daemons they wield. Love how morality can be so easily discerned by one’s appearance in fiction.
We end the episode with Yuru firing at an arrow at the enemy Daemons pursuing him. By the way, what exactly is Yuru’s power? Asa can seemingly blow stuff up from a distance? What can Yuru do? Does he automatically enchant every bow he wields or something?
Stray thoughts & observations:
— Some Daemons are rather impractical, I guess.
— This show’s tone is more comedic than I expected.
— I’m sure Daemons can come in all shapes and sizes, but we’ve only seen animal varieties since we left the mountain. Are humanoid ones rare?
— Ma’am, you’re a murderer. What right have you got to be pissed at Yuru?
— Some guy came out just to meet Yuru, but even the other members of the Kagemori clan seem to give him the cold shoulder.
