Isekai Hate Watch: Summer 2026, Week 6

Get yourself a girl who looks at you like this.

The World’s Strongest Rearguard Ep. 6

There’s no rhyme or reason for anything that happens. Why is there a teleport tile in the middle of nowhere? Why does it take you to a massive building that only has like three rooms even though it’s supposed to be a labyrinth? Why is there a powerful, named mob guarding the place? Why does it guard a coffin? Why does the coffin have yet another waifu within it? Well, actually, I think I called this one. Why does the random key in Atobe’s possession “unlock” this specific waifu? Why does this trigger a vision of rescue workers trying to put out a car on fire? Why is the waifu a failed replica of a god? Who even are the gods? Why does Atobe insist that the new waifu isn’t a failure despite having just met her? Why does the rest of the party just agree to whatever Atobe wants?

Well, the one thing we do know is that Atobe looks incredibly stupid when he “flash steps” behind the boss and whips out… his slingshot. I would almost think this were a parody, but no, the rest of the show is incredibly sincere in being an utterly uninspiring isekai.

Skeleton Knight in Another World S2 Ep. 6

Arc and friends finally reach the legendary spring that can supposedly cure his curse, but it only works temporarily. Hell, it’s not even his real body. Worst of all, Arc passes out in the process. I wonder if the girls got to see what he looked like before he reverted back to his usual skeleton self. Probably not, ’cause they make no mention of his human appearance. Anyway, Arc proceeds to be bedridden for quite some time — long enough for Chiyome and her people to build a whole damn village. Eventually, Chiyome suggests to Ariane that a kiss might wake Arc up. He predictably recovers right before she can do so. Besides, what is there even to kiss? She’d be touching lips with his teeth, and that’s just weird. Do they even brush their teeth in this fantasy world full of racists? Anyway, there’s no point in curing Arc of his curse. The show would lose its entire identity.

Speaking of racists, we see someone try to assassinate Danka. That’s what he gets for eating this pineapple salad cake monstrosity.

Last and very least, we also see someone make a report to Emperor Domitianus. I don’t think we’ve seen this dude since the first season. All I know is that he’s a bad guy. This was a pretty throwaway scene.

Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs Season 2 Ep. 6

Well, our two idiot siblings finally realize that they’ve been isekai’d into the same world. Marie is even happy about it. Too bad Leon’s first instinct is to smack her across the room. Look, kids, don’t beat your siblings. Guy or girl, it doesn’t matter. Why are you even getting physical to begin with?

Anyway, the rest of the episode is mostly about Leon attempting to rally the “troops” against the Principality. He doesn’t have much luck. He basically has to blackmail his friends and classmates into joining the war. Apparently, buying a ship from Leon comes with a nasty, binding EULA.

Nobles like Zola and her son also have no interest whatsoever in sticking around. When Balcus tries to recruit her son (notice how I didn’t say “their son”), she accidentally blurts out that she cheated. In this world, this means he can automatically dissolve the marriage. Welp, there goes that relationship.

From Overshadowed to Overpowered Ep. 8

The duel is a complete joke, because Eftal is just heads and shoulders above everyone at the school — other than Merlin, maybe. But he could still beat her. It just wouldn’t take a second. Nevertheless, one of the haughty demons insists that he must only be getting special treatment because he’s got really good physical skills, not that he can cast magic. Why do they gotta make everyone so dumb?

Later that night, Anastasia feels like she can’t repay someone like Eftal, ’cause he’s just so strong. So she immediately reveals that she’s a virgin and offers herself up to him. Good lord, even if he did want that sort of thing, it’s dinner time, ma’am. I’m trying to eat my food, not ass.

But the next day, Eftal and Merlin discover that Anastasia has cleaned his treasure room out. But it’s not her fault! She’s a cute waifu! It’s the special slave crest! It made her do it! Not only that, breaking the crest incurs the wrath of a god who can level entire civilizations! Yeah, yeah, yeah. Personally, I think it would’ve been far more interesting if Anastasia did have a bad side to her. But you can’t have a morally grey waifu or whatever. So what was up with Anastasia offering her body up to Eftal? Eh, she probably thought that was the only way she could make up to him for what she was about to do.

Coincidentally enough, Anastasia’s true master is the asshole demon that Eftal just beat up in the duel. Apparently, her entire family is cursed because one of her ancestors committed the crime of murdering a fellow demon, or so we’re told. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were somehow framed. Regardless, Anastasia also has to serve this jackass’s clan for… I dunno, perpetuity? It sounds like the slave crest gets passed down to future generations, so unless you have a powerful mage on your side like Eftal, you might as well just make yourself infertile. Why fuck over your kids? By the way, this is asshole world-building. Anastasia’s master even says she’ll be forced to have kids later. That’s why I have to scoff when she insists that she’s still a virgin. You think her asshole master wouldn’t have touched her by now? Also, that big sister is dead. We have asshole world-building, so why not asshole backstories as well? Oh yeah, her ancestors were framed. So there you go, just one more asshole lore drop to complete the bit. It’s so one-dimensional.

The thing is, Eftal’s going to rescue Anastasia and free her from the special slave crest. You just know he will. Afterward, Anastasia will become even more devoted to him than ever. But this is different, because it won’t be compulsory! So why not make that painfully clear? Why not have Anastasia leave for a while, maybe reunite with her father, maybe honor her sister’s memory, maybe go on a journey to find herself and learn who or what she wants to become, etc? Finally, once Anastasia has done all of that, and she still comes back to Eftal, then sure, that sounds like actual growth — healthy growth. But if she just goes from serving one man to another, then all you’re doing is replacing a physical crest with codependency.

The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System Ep. 7

Rare mobs vary a lot across JRPGs. The most popular ones might be… hm, the metal slimes in Dragon Quest? Most rare mobs are like it. You normally do like one damage on top of missing all the time. To add insult to injury, the rare mob might run before you even get a turn. But maybe the rare mob only has like 30 or so HP or whatever, so you just gotta luck out or exploit certain skills — skills that ignore defense or guarantee a critical hit. Unsurprisingly, Elymas has to employ the same tactic to farm the golden frogs.

Thanks to Ruche’s luck, it doesn’t take the duo long before they encounter the golden frog they want to farm. But awww, it starts trembling as soon as they have it cornered. See, I play games, because beneath the graphics, it’s all just 1s and 0s. But if the real thing is in front of me and it starts acting scared, I don’t think I could do it, man. I’m not a killer.

Like usual, this show devotes an entire episode to a single event or topic. It’s all about taking out a single golden frog this week. After all, Elymas has to explain the mechanics of the rare mob. He has to explain why they have no time to go after anything but the treasure mob. He has to explain how they can corner the rare mob. He has to explain why he trusts that Ruche is the best person for the job. He has to boost her morale because she has been so browbeaten by her previous party. Ruche then has to murder the damn thing. Gotta have that kill shot. Last but not least, you pray and hope you get the rare drop. Add all of that up and that’s your entire episode. You waited a whole week to watch this show, and that’s all you’re gonna get. But hey, at least we got some silly Ruche faces out of this.

Hell Mode S2 Ep. 6

Helmios interrupts the fight between Krena and Dverg, ’cause I guess the girl would’ve died? Eh, who am I to question the Hero with a capital aitch? Unfortunately, he’s a hypocrite. In his own match against Allen, the kid pulls every trick out of the book. Unwilling to cede any ground, Helmios uses his “Extra Skill,” which could’ve killed Allen. The kid just loses both of his hands instead, which you can magically heal back up with elvish potions. Convenient.

Anyway, the gist is that the Hero is tired of carrying the burden alone. The neverending war against the Demon Lord has grounded the Hero’s spirit until there’s barely any hope left, so he’s pushing Allen to the limit to see whether or not humanity truly stands a chance, blah blah blah. The characterization here is haphazard, so I’m going to treat it similarly. In the end, Allen gets his fancy MP regen ring, so he quickly surrenders. He never cared about winning in the first place.

The kids try to return to their normal routine — they even unlock S-rank dungeons in the process — but the narrative pacing shifts into another gear as the kids are told the bad news: they’re being dispatched to the frontlines. Apparently, the Demon Lord is invading with ten million mobs, and the elvish kingdom has already fallen. There’s still so little we actually know. Why is the Demon Lord waging this war? Where are all these monsters coming from? Boy, am I glad we wasted episodes upon episodes of Allen just testing out his summons’ abilities. I mean, a great man once said, “A war waged without knowledge of the enemy is no war — it is mere bloodletting.” That great man? Emet Selch. Hey, don’t look at me like that. Even genocidal maniacs can make a good point once in a while.

Anyway, a lot of the kids are worried about defending their own turf, but being the leader, Allen agrees to head to the elvish kingdom and salvage what they can. Gotta impress the new elf waifu, after all.
