Tough episode to watch, man. The already tenuous relationship between Athanasia and her father hits a snag when she sounds exactly like her mother during breakfast. I mean, she’s drinking a tea from her mother’s homeland, so what did Claude expect? Two people can’t have the same opinion about something? But all of a sudden, Claude is too busy to see his daughter. He gives her hope just to snatch it away because she made an innocent, innocuous comment. Next thing you know, she’s burning pictures she’s drawn of her and her father. That’s legitimately heartbreaking. This pretty much gets confirmed near the halfway point of the episode. It’s such a shame. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, even my worst enemies.

But seriously, I feel like Loid will never confront his actual feelings unless his family is in danger, both literally or figuratively. Of course, most people never want anything bad to happen to the Forgers and for good reason. They’re a cute, wholesome family even if they’re all lying to each other. Personally, however, I would like to see them put under a bit of pressure just to see what happens — just to see what comes out.
