The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess Ep. 1: Like looking into a mirror

Another villainess story, but this time, our protagonist wrote the damn thing. So maybe we can a little more meta than usual? Konoha has always been obsessed with the stories that you typically find in otome games. Y’know, tales where the heroine has hot guys drooling over her, but there’s always a bitter, jealous woman bringing her down. It’s just a harem but in reverse. Naturally, our protagonist grows up, gets a boring office job (only people who have known the soul-sucking corporate world would want to be isekai’d), dies tragically to a truck, and reincarnates into her own story as the villainess.

Everything Else: Fall 2025, Week 1

Not a whole lot of fall shows here yet, since I’m still doing first impressions for a lot of them. But hey, we can fill ourselves up with some of the summer leftovers. We all know how much we love those shows!

The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess Ep. 4: Terrible father

Tough episode to watch, man. The already tenuous relationship between Athanasia and her father hits a snag when she sounds exactly like her mother during breakfast. I mean, she’s drinking a tea from her mother’s homeland, so what did Claude expect? Two people can’t have the same opinion about something? But all of a sudden, Claude is too busy to see his daughter. He gives her hope just to snatch it away because she made an innocent, innocuous comment. Next thing you know, she’s burning pictures she’s drawn of her and her father. That’s legitimately heartbreaking. No matter how smart she is, Athanasia is still just a baby who just wants her father’s love and attention. I’m not even a father and I still feel all choked up over this scene.

Secrets of the Silent Witch Ep. 13: Greater than the sum of its parts

Bart the thief finally gets his grungy hands on the magical artifact, and not only does it immediately start talking to him, it’s also yandere. Well, it’s a good thing I don’t wear jewelry.1 I’m curious what the magical artifact must have said to Louis if this is how it reacts to the thief. Also, do I want to know why the magical artifact has a will of its own? Did some poor woman get turned into jewelry? Or perhaps her soul got trapped in one? This pretty much gets confirmed near the halfway point of the episode. It’s such a shame. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, even my worst enemies.

SPY x FAMILY Ep. 38: More superfluous fun

The Forgers are on yet another family outing. Y’know, for the mission. It’s always for the mission. But seriously, I feel like Loid will never confront his actual feelings unless his family is in danger, both literally or figuratively. Of course, most people never want anything bad to happen to the Forgers and for good reason. They’re a cute, wholesome family even if they’re all lying to each other. Personally, however, I would like to see them put under a bit of pressure just to see what happens — just to see what comes out.
