Dandadan Ep. 20: Dancin’ to the beat

I don’t have a lot to say about the musical battle itself, ’cause I mean, musical or not, it’s still a shounen battle, i.e. not not exactly my forte (pun somewhat intended). And like most battles, there’s the familiar ebb and flow: Okarun initially screws up, gets down on himself, Turbo Granny doles out some tough love, so our hero eventually finds his footing and ultimately prevails. Meanwhile, Aira does her thing as a supporting character. As usual, Science Saru still put in the work. The battle choreography is pretty fun to watch even if they did reuse some of the animation. My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 19: Beware, a stomach!

Can you really tell that Marin has gained weight? Apparently yes; multiple people point it out in this week’s episode. In fact, Nowa supposedly noticed it when Marin was cosplaying as Rei-sama during the cultural festival. Well, you coulda fooled me. But it’s anime, so it’s hard to tell unless they oversell it. Marin’s girlies actually speculate that the special undies required to give a person a masculine body shape probably hid the weight gain. But if that’s true, then how did Nowa notice anything? At the end of the day, ball don’t lie, and the “ball” in this case is Gojo’s bespoke costumes. They were specifically tailored to a snapshot of Marin’s body, and if they don’t fit, then they don’t fit. Can’t be in denial about that.

Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex Ep. 7: Toxic future in-laws

A good chunk of this episode features Mio investigating Marie’s parents, trying to suss out whether or not the letter from Marie’s little brother is legit. We get to see Kyros’s head maid don many faces, and even perform her own stunts. After all, what sort of anime prince, lord, duke or what have you doesn’t have a super maid who can do it all? And even though Marie’s parents try their best to hide their duplicity (well, not really), ace detective Mio sees through it all quite easily. Again, what a super maid!
