A lot of shows still haven’t aired, but we’ll get to them when they do. For the shows that I have seen, here’s how they stack up.
Week 1’s Rankings
Shows I intend to watch when they finally air: Kiseijuu, Hitsugi no Chaika Avenging Battle, Psycho-Pass 2, Ore Twintail ni Narimasu, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, Daitoshokan no HItsujikai, Girlfriend, Mushishi Zoku Shou 2, Sanzoku no Musume Ronja.
22. Denki-gai no Honya-san
Yawn…
21. Akame ga Kill!
I never knew a day on the beach with a well-endowed mass murderer could be so boring, but that’s what you get when the character magically loses her edge around her boytoy. To compound matters, the boytoy is yet another pathetically wholesome shounen hero.
20. World Trigger
I don’t know, the first episode doesn’t seem all that exciting. The art direction is also kind of unappealing. I’m not into shows of this type, so I’ll probably drop it after a couple more weeks unless something drastically changes with its current formula.
19. Cross Ange
Even if the anime is self-aware of the fact that it appears to be a trashy show, it doesn’t change the fact that, well, it appears to be a trashy show.
18. Grisaia no Kajitsu
Tacking on a ridiculously over-the-top ending to twenty minutes of solidly bland harem dreck is apparently enough to impress a lot of people.
17. Nanatsu no Taizai
Feels like a standard shounen. It’s just too bad about the main character. Nah, I don’t care that he looks like a kid. Rather, Meliodas constantly molests Elizabeth, the heroine, and the girl doesn’t do anything but take it. I bet she falls in love with him too, huh?
16. Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete
It’s only up here because the animation is so bad, it’s hilariously bad. I hope it gets even worse for my amusement. But don’t worry, it’s a shit show. Hell, everything this low on the list is shit anyway.
15. Trinity Seven
I won’t say too much about the show just yet. I just love how the harem shows this season are absolutely terrible on the eyes. This show really gives Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete a run for its money in the looks department. Sure, it sucks that these stories are even getting adapted in the first place, but at least nobody’s wasting too much money with any of them. For now, anyway. We still have two more harem shows to check out. Anyway, if you want to know more about what I think of Trinity Seven, look forward to next week’s Harem Hill post.
14. Terra Formars
Doesn’t deliver on the action.
13. Donten ni Warau
I expected a more ambitious first episode. I couldn’t really connect with the three brothers, and since the story revolves around them, the story feels like it’ll be a hard pill to swallow.
12. Sword Art Online II
Another offline episode to recap stuff we already know.
11. Inou Battle Within Everyday Life
It just feels downright generic.
10. Madan no Ou to Vanadis
The heroine’s character is completely unbelievable, which, as far as anime is concerned, is just par for the course. It might be interesting to see how Tigre goes about saving his homeland, but if the first episode is anything to go by, the anime’s probably too busy shoving Elen’s giant rack in our face to tell a proper story.
9. Argevollen
Meh.
8. Fate/stay night – Unlimited Blade Works
I don’t care how much exposition they had to cut from the source material, because this episode still had too much of it. On the bright side, the battle scenes look alright. Everything else is boring and a pain to get through.
7. Amagi Brilliant Park
The first episode is pretty (as expected). The first episode is also pretty boring for a good chunk of it (as expected). Seiya’s new powers could be interesting in a What Women Want sort of way, except with both genders from a completely different culture. It’s probably going to be mostly cute girls, though. Plus, this is anime, so I’m not sure what the average female anime character wants will be too interesting (probably caeki). It all depends on the sort of problems Seiya will end up solving in the coming episodes, but since this anime feels rather light-hearted, I’m not expecting much. Plus, it feels like KyoAni is trying to make up for lost time by doubling down hard on the fanservice. Even the ED is chock-full of naked girls.
You said it, buddy. It’s just too bad Kouki Uchiyama tends to sound the same in every role.
6. Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji
Not a fan of this show. Just less of a fan of the shows beneath it.
5. Log Horizon 2
The last 25% of the episode was intriguing. The first 75% was the opposite.
4. Gundam: Reconguista in G
The retro feel doesn’t bother me. The lack of a compelling hook despite having two episodes to provide us with one is the biggest offense in my book.
3. Akatsuki no Yona
It might be third on this list, but if the first episode is anything to go by, it’ll be just an average anime at best. But now that our characters are leaving the confines of the royal palace, maybe I’ll get that shoujo adventure I’ve been hoping to see.
2. Garo: The Carved Seal of Flames
Less-than-impressive 3-D animation keeps this anime below Shingeki no Bahamut for now.
1. Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis
Week 1’s Poll
No big poll yet. Rather, you guys can help me decide which of the following shows I will write about in a dedicated post. I’m on the fence about them, y’see, so I’ll just let the popular vote sway my decision.
The Seven Deadly Sins bothers me with how much similarities it has with Dragon Ball.
Including (on surface value), but not limited to;
– A prepubescent-looking main character
– Said prepubescent main character being more powerful than he looks like
– A talking pig
– Said talking pig is the main character’s companion
– A female character is molested (unknowingly) as she sleeps
– Said female character has something she needs from main character
– The main plot revolves around a group of seven somethings
…Hey, that’s seven similarities! Needless to say, this is a shitty, shitty gauge of how the show will eventually turn out. Maybe it’ll be as memorable as Dragon Ball, maybe not. Only time will tell, but it’s fun to note these things, anyway.
Sad to say, besides the new Gundam shows, none of the other shows interest me more than reading up your thoughts (and sufferings) watching them. I bid you all the world’s luck.
Also, Amagi; I did not expect to have a naked chick’s ass dumped on me like that. Holy shit.
That’s nothing. Someone pointed out to me this afternoon that there was a (censored) dildo in Amagi’s OP. Confirmed it for myself and went “yeah, it’s not just the ED where KyoAni is making up for lost time”.
Nah Seven deadly sins is bad, read the manga dropped it after a while as I just got to boring and to be a chore to read. Imagine Fairy tale, but . .. boring.
World Triger is the same way. Although it did pick up about a quarter of the way through, but somewhere along the line it just got boring (when the Bads started invading)
not that i like the show but those are some dumb similarities
-A prepubescent-looking main character:That’s cuz goku is prepubescent (and meliodas is in his seventies by the way)
-Said prepubescent main character being more powerful than he looks like:Like almost every Shonen out there
-A female character is molested (unknowingly) as she sleeps:Only Goku was ignorant and Meliodas was just Horny
– Said female character has something she needs from main character:Someting that happens at some point in pretty much every shonen
– The main plot revolves around a group of seven somethings:Cuz People and magical Balls apparentlu have so much in common
You Basically strung together a bunch of shonen tropes and slapped on Dragonball
Where is Kaito Joker???
I’m not watching that.
lol Kaito Joker, I watched 3 minutes of that and was like “nope”
A-are you serious?
I basically picked up Nanatsu no Taizai for the artstyle and wasn’t disappointed on that front, great colors and backgrounds. It’s too bad the introduced main characters are pretty annoying.
Grisaia: A lot of people seem to be in love with dark twists and such and don’t seem to care if shows/episodes depend on it.
World Trigger: Honestly, you’re kinder to this than most people. There was an uproar regarding how badly Toei fucked up the production values before I got to seeing it.
Nanatsu Whatever: Didn’t see this because of the trollsubs.
Amagi: Kind of reminded me of Humanity Has Declined except a little funnier. I thought it was okay, though I am worried about what (admittedly little) I heard of the source material.
As for what I’ll vote for…I dunno. Maybe Cross Ange? Not because it’s better than the other three, but because it’s the one that has the highest potential for coming up with something new to say every week.
I ranked it second to last. I’m just not in an uproar ’cause I had no stake in how it turned out.
Thing is World Trigger isn’t that good to begin with. The concept is cool, but going by the source material. . .the execution and story telling was just unbearably boring.
Amagi is just as bad as I thought, it rubs me all the wrong way. I enjoyed Donten ni warau but it doesn’t seem like something you’d have fun watching or writing about so it’s toss up between ange and vanadis. Voting for vanadis, ange trainwreck looks like it’s going to be really disturbing to watch.
I played the Bahamut card game for quite a while so was expecting it to be a horrible fanservice show but the first episode was quite good, hope they can keep that up.
Vanadis is life.
Amagi and Trinity Seven OP are great
Bahamut and Fate are epic
Grisaia should be okay
Please, dude drop Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji. It’s not worth trouble to watch it, we both now the destiny that awaits the heroine.
90% of the shows here aren’t worth watching, and yet I blog them anyway.
Ookami shoujo it’s not even worth write 1 line about it. It’s not like SAO II or Mahouka, it’s doesn’t suck in the funny way. But the blog is yours and if you wanna blog something, it’s not me who are gonna to stop you.
Ps: Any plans to blog about Psycho-Pass 2?
Yes.
^ Truth

I actually kinda liked Amagi and Ookami Shoujo. Not sure if that makes me a horrible person or not. It probably does. But that’s okay. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is adorable. I have high hopes for that one, even if it is cliched as hell.
I don’t care what anyone likes or dislikes, but hey, if you really insist, sure, I’ll think you’re a horrible person! You can be anything you wanna be, friend!
