Guys, boobs are already hot. You don’t need to make them hotter with lava.
TOUGEN ANKI: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc Ep. 2

The other kids fight the instructor testing them — y’know, the guy who created a bunch of torii gates out of blood. What’s his name? Shrug, you think I’m going to carve out space in my brain for some random character in a show like this? No chance. All you need to know is that the kids successfully manage to escape, because sometimes running away is the best thing you could do.
As for Shiki and Homare, he finally asks her why she’s so negative about herself. Welp, you know what that means: it’s tragic backstory time. As soon as I saw her ugly father with a beer gut, I felt like I already knew what her story was going to be. Lemme guess: he was abusive, he was also a pedo, sister tried to protect Homare but died, so the girl awakened to her Oni powers. Am I right or am I right? Well, I got one small detail wrong: instead of sexually abusing her directly, he tried to sell Homare to other pedos. Eh, tomato, to-mah-to. We even get one of those “sister talks to you in an empty space and tells you to believe in yourself” moments. Oh well. Maybe in her next life, the sister can aim a little higher.
Tokyo Revengers Ep. 52

Ah yes, it’s the classic “calm before the storm” episode. After all, you’re not supposed to get the proposal and wedding in the second episode of the new season. That should be at the end. So when Takemichi returns to the present, he finds himself at Hayashida’s wedding; his is not for another three months. We then go around, seeing how everyone is flourishing… well, almost everyone. Unfortunately, no one has seen or heard from Mikey in ten years. Takemichi then spots someone with a curious tattoo on TV. How ominous.
Hinata says something interesting to her future husband: after carrying this burden for so long, he deserves to be selfish for once. Yeah, maybe Mikey is in trouble again, but how many times is Takemichi gonna keep pulling these idiots out of the fire? And what if he fails this time? What if Takemichi can’t save Mikey? He just finally managed to save Hinata. Does he really wanna risk it all again? I dunno. It’s hard for me to say, because I’m not emotionally attached to Mikey or any of these characters like Takemichi is. But let’s say my best friend comes to me, they’ve just lost their job, and they need some help keeping a roof over their head. I would lend them some money, right? But now let’s say it’s been a year, and they still need help. Do I drive myself into financial ruin just to save them? How long am I supposed to keep this up?
On the other hand, Takemichi wouldn’t be a shounen protagonist if he was pragmatic, so we all know where this is headed.
Black Clover Ep. 172

At first, it really felt like the heroes were speedrunning this thing. Everyone was winning their respective fight; everything was going too well. We got to see some really ugly power-ups in the process too. Look at this guy. He just has knives sticking out of him. I thought the Spirit of Boreas thing was kinda bland for being so monochromatically green, but I’d rather have that than random knives everywhere. Also, what does cutting through gravity even mean?
Anyway, the actual threat(s) showed up right at the very end, but then it looks like Asta is finally done with his training. These action heavy episodes are so easy to cover, because I don’t really have to think about anything. It’s just hype moment after hype moment. Even the character-building flashbacks are perfunctory at best.
Uh, I guess I’ll start covering Dragon Ball Super: Beerus next week. Just bad timing.
