Man, after finishing the episode, I sat here for a while trying to figure out what to say about this show. It’s just so… unremarkable that I’m at a loss. So y’know, you’ve got a protagonist who dies and gets isekai’d. Yup, pretty standard. This is one of those isekais, however, where his entire class comes along with him. Alright, I’ve seen those before as well. It’s one of those shows where everyone gets a skill in their new world. Ah, lemme guess… the protagonist’s powers seem weak, but they’ll prove to be really powerful before long? Welp, that’s exactly what happens. Makoto was a gamer in his previous life, so he gets the RPG player skill… which does what exactly? I guess it gives him the perspective of a gamer, so he gets to see himself from a top-down view? Charm also doesn’t work on him, because he’s safely behind the fourth wall?
Unfortunately, the price of a unique skill means that Makoto is weak everywhere else. One by one, all of his classmates leave the temple to become adventurers, merchants, or whatever. Meanwhile, Makoto has to stay behind and train with the kiddos. Even then, the children show him up. Yeah, but I won’t be tricked. At the end of the day, this is an isekai, so the protagonist can’t stay weak for long. But the show keeps trying to make us think that this will be a zero to hero story. As a result, when he begs the first waifu candidate, a water priestess, to please bless him with the water goddess’s powers, she rejects him rather coldly. Oh no, no powers and no maidens? Except, again, I don’t believe it for a second. Oh, Makoto will be back to claim this waifu candidate. Just you wait and see!
Eventually, Makoto comes across a trader being attacked by ugly 3D goblins. Even with his meager skills, he manages to defeat them. Later that night, a goddess finally approaches him in his sleep. She offers to let him become one of her believers, but he oddly turns his nose up at her. For a guy who was rejected by everyone else, he sure is being kind of a prick here. Beggars don’t get to be picky. Well, it turns out that the goddess is just a loser like him, because she has no other followers. After much haranguing, Makoto finally agrees to become one of her adherents. Great, cool. And that’s the episode.

Overpowered or not, Makoto is still a very unremarkable character in an unremarkable setup. It’s so plain and uninteresting that I don’t know what to really say about the show. That’s why I sat there for like half an hour trying to come up with all these words. Thankfully, I went to college before the advent of generative AI, so I’m well trained in the magical ability to conjure up a bullshit essay on the fly. And look at me now, utilizing that expensive college education to blog about one of the most boring anime shows of the season!
At this point in 2026, we’ve really explored every possibility out there when it comes to the isekai genre. There are shows where people become spiders or vending machines. As a result, any regular ol’ isekai where the protagonist is simply underestimated by everyone around him doesn’t pass muster. I’ve given myself the ridiculous task of consuming as much seasonal anime as I can for the sake of this blog. You don’t have that self-imposed obligation, so I implore you to find a better use of time. Yeah, this is destined for the Isekai Hate Watch pile, but the show is so unremarkable that I don’t even feel like hating it.
