Isekai Hate Watch: Fall 2026, Week 3

Yeah, I’d be drinking too if I knew I had to sleep with the isekai protagonist. The price you pay for being broke.

As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World Season Ep. 27

The opposing army finds a way to cross the river anyway. Damn those deer! They betrayed us! At one point, Braham loses his axe, so he hops off his horse just to retrieve it. This allows the enemies to surround him, which would mean certain death if his men didn’t come back for him. Obviously, they do. Still, there’s another way this could’ve gone. Braham could’ve just let the axe go. A flashback lets us know that it belonged to his father, so it has sentimental value. But at the end of the day, you gotta think of the bigger picture. By valuing the axe over his own life, he also values it over his men’s lives, too! The whole point of this show is that Ars picks the best man for each role. If someone had to replace Braham, they would do a poorer job, which could potentially lead to even more deaths. Even worse, they could lose the war. After all, they are vastly outnumbered. Ars and Canarre need all the men they can get. So Braham is willing to trade all of that for a sentimental axe? I dunno, man.

But like I said, his men come back for him. Specifically, Zaht goes against his better judgment to save the kid. We naturally get a flashback in which Zaht had a son just like Braham, but the kid died due to an illness while Zaht was away at war.

From Far Away Ep. 2

It still feels like the story is getting settled in, so we continue to introduce and/or establish major players in the story. For example, we get both the immediate and the future antagonist. The duo runs into an injured clothes merchant on the road. He had been heavily injured by a bandit leader, who eventually shows up to finish the job. Izark manages to fend the guy off, but not permanently. The bandit leader will likely come back into the story real soon if not the very next episode. On the other hand, we also get to see how utterly battle-crazy Keimos is. Great, another antagonist who just lives to fight. I’m so sick of this archetype. Nevertheless, you can bet your ass that he’ll become a recurring foe. He’s backed by Rachef who fits the shady schemer type. It’s the eyes; you can always tell what a person is like from their eyes. Finally, we meet a father-daughter duo. The latter is apparently clairvoyant? Unfortunately, she’s also blind. I wonder if there’s any connection. Gosh, I hope dad doesn’t have to tragically die at some point to protect his disabled daughter.

Since Noriko and Izark still can’t really communicate with each other, there’s no real development to speak of. She remains utterly dependent on him. Meanwhile, we’re not exactly sure what Izark’s intentions are. Where is he taking her? Shrug. I do like, however, that Noriko will actually have to put the work in and learn a new language. There’s no magic spell that automatically gives her the ability to understand what Izark is saying. Personally, I still hope she finds a way home, but when in Rome, might as well speak as the Romans do. Also, he kept some of her personal effects, so she’ll get to keep a journal of her days in this strange, new world.

Anyway, Izark suddenly collapses at the end of the episode. It would suck real bad if that bandit leader suddenly showed up.

Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Spaceship! Ep. 2

Alright, so Hiro saves Mimi from rapey thugs. He then asks Elma what to do with the girl. What do you mean what to do with her? Why don’t you ask the girl what she wants to do? As it turns out, Mimi’s parents died in an accident, but they were also held responsible for said accident. Guess who now has to pay for it? Yup, the now orphaned girl who has to drop out of school. In most societies, your parents’ debt does not follow you unless you cosigned for it, which would not be the case for a minor. Even so, fiction always has to be dramatic, so Mimi is on the hook. I bet you her parents weren’t even responsible; they were probably framed or whatever. Nevertheless, if Hiro wants to help her out, he also has to take on her debt. So he immediately pays it off… with “cash” in the form of gold bars. Right.

And just like that, Mimi comes aboard Hiro’s ship. Wait, didn’t she say she had to drop out of school? Wouldn’t the right thing to do be paying for her education? Or maybe asking the girl if she has any relatives she could stay with? I mean, if Mimi wants to join him after she graduates, then so be it. I just think it’s silly that she’s upending her whole life like this. What, you gotta work to earn your keep? He literally just paid off her entire debt in seconds! He can afford to wait until she’s done with school! I swear, these isekai protagonists try to come off as saintly, but even their best actions are questionable.

There’s an awkward moment later in which Mimi shows up to Hiro’s room in lingerie. Elma had apparently bought it for her, planting the idea in the girl’s head that she eeds to pay Hiro back with sex. God, I hope the “school” Mimi referred to earlier meant a college or university, but knowing anime, it probably meant high school. Plus, if she was an adult, why would you call her an orphan? If a college student lost their parents in a tragic accident, you wouldn’t call them that! In the end, Mimi admits that she’s doing this because she doesn’t want Hiro to abandon her. So he sleeps with her. An emotionally vulnerable orphan who just lost her parents feels partly obliged to sleep with you thanks to someone whispering in her ear, and you just do it? Fucking deplorable. That’s some real scummy shit.

The rest of the episode has the pair joining a raid on a space pirate base. Elma somehow loses control of her ship and rams into Serena’s ship. We see her drinking in an alley at the end of the episode. She had to pay for the damages she incurred in the raid. Considering her advice to Mimi, she’ll likely end up doing the same damn thing. In fact, all three female characters — Mimi, Elma, and Serena — are probably gonna end up being Hiro’s lovers.

So What’s Wrong with Getting Reborn as a Goblin Ep. 3

The goblins just keep getting stronger. Akira discovers that they can combine skills to evolve them. You lose one of the skills, but the end product more than makes up for it. Having said that, the margrave continues to be wary of Akira’s intelligence more than anything else. As a result, he gives Karen the Goblin Slayer, a dagger that… well, I suppose it’s good at killing goblins. But Karen gets scared due to Akira’s Archfiend skill. If you’ll recall, anyone who loses to someone with that skill can be mentally subjugated. If she fails, she would no longer be able to disobey him. She would more or less become a slave. So the next time we see her, she disrobes and tries to seduce Akira. Or, y’know, you could just not fight him? It feels like she’s eager to find a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Sheesh, women in this anime are willing to get down and dirty at the drop of a hat. But no, that’s not entirely accurate. It’s just because this is an isekai, so even if the protagonist is a goblin, you gotta let the audience indulge in their fantasy of being a virile, sexually desired man. It’s ridiculous.

As for Chloe, she’s just a member of the goblin village now. She’s also a boring tsundere character. There’s not much else to say about her.

Reincarnated as a Sword S2 Ep. 3

The vast majority of this episode is just one big fight against the skeleton knight. You know how it goes: the good guys are losing until they suddenly start winning. The skeleton knight was beating the tar out of Fran until the girl finally convinced her sword to let her put points into Advanced Sword Arts. And just like that, they start winning. Meh.

Almost immediately, the party gets pulled into the boss room where they have to face off against the Undead King, oooooh~~~ I just like how the boss still gave them time to eat and take a breather before starting the final fight. Even skeletons have honor, you know?

The party initially tries to outright escape the dungeon, but teleportation spells are conveniently disabled. Not only that, the Undead King summons even more skeleton minions, each just as strong as the skeleton knight. So great, I guess next week’s episode is gonna be one big battle as well. Well, I don’t really know what else to say. I’m not exactly a battle-maniac.

Y’know, right before the battle started, Jean brought out his super powerful staff. The reason he hasn’t been using it until now is because the staff has a major drawback: it drains its user of their vitality. Gosh, he didn’t just raise his own death flag, did he?

Magic Knight Rayearth (2026) Ep. 2

Clef’s former apprentice goes chasing after the girls. Considering how our trio have only just arrived and doesn’t have weapons yet, they must be sitting ducks, right? Well, Hikaru gets up, starts channeling her mana, then casts a spell that completely overwhelms Alcyone. Oof, that’s embarrassing. This is like getting your ass handed to you by a level 1 onion knight.

Elsewhere, Princess Emeraude asks Zagato why he’s doing this — why he’s imperiling the world. He just smiles. I guess we’re not ready for that conversation yet. That might be more of a mid-game reveal. What do you suppose his real motive is? Is he just power hungry? That would be too simple, right? But so far, the story naturally feels like a 90s JRPG, and those games didn’t exactly have complex villains. Then again, Zagato is unconventionally attractive for a 90s JRPG villain. He wouldn’t be that pretty if it didn’t play a factor. Maybe he just wants the princess for himself.

The girls eventually reach a building where they might find Presea, who can make them weapons. But instead, they trigger a trap that puts them behind bars. Presea finally shows up, but proceeds to ignore the girls’ attempts to explain the situation until the episode is about to end. All of a sudden, the woman realizes that they must be the legendary knights summoned from another world. How convenient.

The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System Ep. 16

It’s always “we only have one chance!” It’s always do or die. I know it’s for the sake of drama, I know! But this is also incredibly stupid, is it not? If you constantly put yourself in situations where a single failure means death, then you fucked up somewhere! Imagine if one part stops working on a plane, so the whole thing comes crashing down. That would be a huge indictment on everyone, especially the engineers.

Easy episode to cover, though. I mean, it’s just one big fight against an ugly-ass, overgrown centipede. Like always, Elymas painstakingly explains to us how he’s going to defeat the bug. I will use this skill that everyone has overlooked, but they don’t understand how awesome it is paired with my defense-heavy class! Yeah, whatever. That shit isn’t interesting to me.

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! Ep. 15

I feel like this was a strange episode, because everything it revealed, I feel like we already knew? Lufas starts acting a bit crazy in the middle of their fight against the scorpion lady (who has now become a real scorpion), but they catch themselves. They conclude that villainess Lufas might have leaked out at that moment, but they would need to tap into that crazy side of theirs in a future fight. Okay, but don’t we already know this? Elsewhere, Libra and Aries talk about how Dina is suspicious. Lufas asks Dina to remove the goddess’s influence on the scorpion lady. As the latter does so, the former wonders if this means Dina and the goddess are connected. But didn’t we think this before? I feel like we’ve been suspicious of Dina… well, maybe not from the start, but certainly midway through the first season. Yeah, I dunno, maybe the show is still in “reintroduce the audience to the story” mode. I’m still waiting on this anime to give me something new to make it feel like we’re truly watching a new season. For the time being, everything just feels like a rehash.

Anyway, Mizar, one of Lufas’s old buddies, is supposedly still alive. Are they a player character, though? Speaking of player characters, Dina is shocked to find out that Lufas is a man behind the avatar. Lufas assures her, however, that they’ve lost all form of sexual desire ever since they were isekai’d into this body. Still, wouldn’t it be funny if they were both men and subsequently fell in love with their female-presenting avatars?

Magical Explorer Ep. 3

I forget why terrorists want Ludie dead, but this time, they stick her in a dungeon. Of course, Takioto jumps in to save her with the help of a new friend. The problem, however, is when they need to escape. Because he got sucked into an isekai based on an eroge, the way to exit a dungeon has to be humiliating. Specifically, the girls have to don incredibly skimpy swimsuits and do several sexy poses. Well, in an actual eroge, the MC would’ve had sex with them by now, so in all honesty, this is pretty half-assed. This show is too horny to have a decent story, but it’s not even horny enough to capture what an eroge is truly like.
