I was trying to come up with an idea of what to blog about, but the latest Letter Bee was a filler episode and I couldn’t be assed to watch another Miracle Train. In the end, I decided to take a look back at 2009. This post doesn’t necessarily reflect the views of Moe Sucks as a whole nor is it meant to be comprehensive. If I didn’t mention a particular anime, it’s only because it wasn’t the best, surprising nor disappointing. I didn’t want to talk about the bad either because, well, I think most anime are just plain bad (I’ll never understand why people think this is an odd position for an anime fan; most movie fans would agree that most movies suck) and the rest of the blog already covers a part of that.
It’s July and we’re way deep into summer, but the summer shows are barely starting so I figured we should close the book on spring 09 definatively. I’ll do that by taking a look at the “Dengeki Top 2009 Spring Anime Rankings.” Usually, news items are tucked away in the bottom left corner since I don’t want them drawing too much attention away from the actual blog itself. I have a few comments to make about these rankings, however, so here’s a dedicated entry. Oh yeah, the source is Sankaku Complex.
With two movies coming up in November ’09 and January ’10, any analysis of Eden of the East would just be incomplete, but despite the abrupt cliffhanger at the end, I still think of the TV series can stand by itself as one whole product. I think we are able to take a good look at a few of the themes and issues introduced, even if we must wait till the very end to resolve most if not all of our questions.
